What an incredible day it was yesterday at Kubernetes Community Day (KCD) New York! The energy in the room was palpable, a vibrant buzz of excitement, shared passion, and genuine connection. If there’s one thing these events truly highlight, it’s the undeniable power of the cloud native community.

For so long, many of us connect through screens, exchanging ideas, asking questions, and collaborating on projects from different corners of the globe. But there’s something truly special, almost magical, about finally seeing those familiar avatars transform into real faces, sharing a laugh, and discussing tech over a cup of coffee. It was an absolute joy to meet people I’ve only known online, putting a face to a name and deepening those virtual connections. And beyond that, the event was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with old friends and to forge exciting new ones including Viktor Farcic, Simon Forster, Danielle Cook, Nancy Chauhan, Henrik Rexed, Fabrizio Sgura and Valentina Rodriguez Sosa just to mention a few. These spontaneous conversations, the sharing of experiences, and the unexpected insights gained are what make KCDs so invaluable.

One of the highlights of my day was the opportunity to moderate a roundtable for the very first time. It was an incredibly rewarding experience, and I’m thrilled to say it was exceptionally fruitful! We delved into some really critical topics that are top-of-mind for many in our industry: Platform Engineering, Observability, and, of course, a healthy dose of AI – because let’s be honest, can you even have a tech conversation these days without mentioning it? The discussions were dynamic, insightful, and challenged us to think differently. A huge thank you to Michel Murabito, Colin J Lacy, Tiara Sykes, Andrew Espira, Mariia R., Aderianna T Williams, Marino Wijay and Maria Ashby for their incredible contributions, making it truly special and thought-provoking.
